Tanner Richard recalled by Lightning
Tanner Richard may get to make his NHL debut after all.
The Lightning forward prospect was recalled Monday from AHL Syracuse, and is expected to join Tampa Bay for its game Tuesday against the Red Wings. Richard, 23, had been called up Saturday, but a flight delay forced him to miss his connection to Edmonton, where he was supposed to play in his first NHL game.
Richard had seven goals and 17 points in 22 games for the Crunch this season. But he was the fourth forward recalled by Tampa Bay. The Lightning reassigned forward Joel Vermin to Syracuse.
By sending Vermin down, it appears at least one of the injured Lightning forwards is ready to return. Nikita Kucherov (lower body), Ondrej Palat (undisclosed), Ryan Callahan (lower body) and Cedric Paquette (upper body) all missed Saturday's game in Edmonton. Each are considered day-to-day.
Would have to think Richard draws in against the Red Wings, though, especially considering his brutal near-debut over the weekend.
