Vasilevskiy to make season debut tonight for Crunch
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy will make his season debut tonight for AHL Syracuse in Toronto to begin his conditioning assignment.
Vasilevskiy, sidelined since early September surgery to fix a blood clot in his collarbone, returned to practice Monday with Tampa Bay. Vasilevskiy figures he needs one or two rehab games with Syracuse - which also plays Friday at home - before resuming his role as Ben Bishop's backup. Vasilevskiy will be re-evaluated after tonight's start to see how he feels and what he needs.
Vasilevskiy hoped to be back by Sunday's game in Carolina, the second half of a back to back. If how he's looked in first two practices is any indication, he's getting close.
"He's a monster, that kid," coach Jon Cooper said. "It's like he hasn't missed a beat."
