12 Blogs of Christmas: Weird and wacky Christmas tree alternatives

The 12 Blogs of Christmas, featuring stocking stuffer-sized holiday stories about pop culture and beyond will run each weekday leading up to Christmas Eve. You can find all of them on The Feed blog.

When Marilynn Bockover of St. Petersburg's Spa 801 saw the torso of a dressmaker form turned into a festive but fab Christmas tree, she knew she had to have it for her trendy beauty and hair salon. She plunked down $89 at Sam's Club and snapped up the green beauty whose skiirt was the Christmas tree. A final bit a bling from a red and green beaded necklace turned the dress into a show-stopper at the Tyrone area salon. But the dress soon had company.

One of Marilynn's elves, a crafty hairdresser named Pam Kartlick, made a BFF for the dressmaker mannequin tree by ordering another dress form. She outfitted it with the top half of a thrift-store gown and the bottom half of an artificial tree and voila! A fashion-inspired Christmas tree.

That got us thinking about the many ways clever people turn a classic Christmas tree into something weird and wonderful. They take pop culture inspirations add a little tinsel and a smartly placed tree topper and you get:

A Prince tree saying Merry Princemas to all

A Grinch tree

A bendy Whoville tree

Groot's head seems a natural as a tree topper (note the Raccoon sidekick is there)

These Star Wars trees can probably be outfitted from any cosplayer's closet

Oh look! Another dress

This one is made from wine bottles

For finally, for a Florida touch, this one is made of starfish
