My vote for dopiest TV effect so far: CNN's hologram
At 7:19 p.m., CNN employed 35 high-definition cameras to beam reporter Jessica Yellin's image to its New York studios from Chicago -- creating something that looked a lot like a colorized, 3-D image from Skype. A little herky-jerky, not very detailed and seemingly smaller than real life. Reminded me uncomfortably of that moment in Star Wars where Princess Leia pleads for help in a projection shooting out of R2-D2's gut.
I'm seeing messages from friends who say they liked it, so maybe I'm just an old TV curmudgeon.
Hate to think how much they spent on making this happen.
If you saw it, what do you think?
