I may be the biggest male Kathy Griffin fan who isn't gay or closeted. BUT...

The whole notion of mining hilarity from straitlaced anchor Anderson Cooper's discomfort and fear of Griffin's unpredictable raunchiness during CNN's New Year's Eve coverage gets old after 15 minutes or so. If she were paired with somebody like NBC anchor Brian Williams, who can be straitlaced AND funny, that would be a horse of a different color, as they say.

At a time when a major advertising campaign uses the word "sucks" in its slogan, the notion of shock over Griffin's loosing the f-word on CNN seems almost quaint. Still, Cooper needs to raise his game or CNN needs to find somebody else who can at least try to keep up with the divine Ms. G.
