Woodward’s ‘Fear’ flies off the shelves, Daniels’ ‘Full Disclosure’ waits in the wings

Donald Trump's presidency continues to be a gift to the publishing industry.

Author and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bob Woodward's in-depth report on the  dysfunctional administration, Fear: Trump in the White House, had already racked up more than 750,000 copies sold (in all formats) by its publication date, Sept. 11.

Simon & Schuster reported that it had the most pre-order sales of any book in the publisher's history. According to Barnes & Noble, Fear is the fastest-selling adult title since Harper Lee's Go Set a Watchman was published in 2015.

Two days after its publication, Fear was the No. 1 bestselling book on Amazon, where the print version was on back order until early October. The book is already in its ninth printing, with 1.1 million copies.

By October, another competitor in the Trump tell-all genre will launch, this one from a very different point of view. St. Martin's will publish Full Disclosure, a memoir by Stormy Daniels, on Oct. 2, about a month before mid-term elections.

In case you've been marooned on a desert island for a year, Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford) is the adult film actor-director who says she had a brief sexual relationship with Trump back in 2006 and was paid $130,000 not to talk about it just before he was elected in 2016.

Legal proceedings involving Daniels and Trump (and Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen) continue, but in the book, according to the publisher's description, she will reveal new details about their relationship and its aftermath.

The memoir also will recount her upbringing in Louisiana and her career in adult entertainment.  In an appearance on The View on Sept. 12, Daniels said she had been working on a book for about 10 years.

"It will blow your minds,"Daniels said.
