Celebrities memorialize 49 Pulse victims in Ryan Murphy-directed tribute
Nearly three weeks after the massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Human Rights Campaign has released an emotional video of 49 celebrities memorializing each of the 49 victims.
Lady Gaga, Chris Pine, Cuba Gooding Jr., Kid Cudi, Sofia Vergara, Demi Lovato, George Lopez and Laverne Cox are among the celebs who speak the names of the men and women who died during Latin Night at the gay club and share intimate details about their lives. Gaga speaks about 27-year-old Jean Carlos Nieves Rodriguez purchasing a home so his mother could live with him. Angela Bassett talks about 33-year-old Shane Evan Tomlinson taking the stage as the lead singer of a cover band. Lea Michele explains how victim Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon met his longtime partner Jean Carlos Mendez Perez, who also died at Pulse, when Perez charmed him at the Perfumania counter where he worked.
Glee alum Harry Shum Jr. paid tribute to Christopher Sanfeliz, a graduate of Gaither High School in Tampa.
"Christopher Joseph Sanfeliz, 24 years old. Chris was a personal banker at JP Morgan Chase," Shum says. "Visiting Orlando from Tampa, he was an excellent dancer who taught his friends how to do the bachata."
The 18-minute video was directed by Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy and writer/producer Ned Martel, according to EW.
