Tampa's high number of adult entertainment options pushed the city near the top of the sinfulness ranking.

Is Tampa really among the nation's "most sinful cities?"

It depends how much stock you put in WalletHub, the personal finance website that has become famous for ranking America's cities on all sorts of lists that Tampa and St. Petersburg have appeared on, from the best places for foodies to the the best baseball cities to the top cities to celebrate Oktoberfest.

The latest appearance: Tampa comes in at No. 12 (out of 150) on the Most Sinful Cities in America list.

From WalletHub:

"From beer-loving Milwaukee to hedonistic New Orleans, the U.S. is filled with people behaving badly. No place is innocent. We all have demons. ... So in order to identify the darkest corners of America, WalletHub’s data crunchers compared the 150 most populated U.S. cities across 27 key indicators of evil deeds. Our data set ranges from 'violent crimes per capita' to 'excessive drinking' to 'potential cheaters.'"

The measure that pushed Tampa that high up in sinfulness was "lust," which took into account the number of adult-entertainment establishments per capita. Tampa, which has been called "the strip club capital of the world," came in at No. 4 in the lust category. The only cities with more adult entertainment per capita, according to WalletHub, are Las Vegas, Portland, Ore. and Atlanta.

Florida was pretty sinful overall by WalletHub's measure, landing three cities in the top 20. Orlando was the most sinful in the Sunshine State at No. 4. Miami was No. 6. St. Petersburg landed at No. 44.

Here's the Top 25.
