ABC Action news anchor welcomes new baby as station debuts new set
Lots of change in the air at Tampa ABC affiliate WFTS-Ch. 28, as anchor Wendy Ryan welcomed a new baby daughter days before the station debuted a new set for its newscasts.
Ryan announced the arrival of Raquel Ryan Ritchey on her Facebook page, celebrating the 7:54 p.m. Wednesday birth of the baby at nearly 4 lbs. and 16 inches long.
Her coworkers celebrated the news while introducing viewers to their new set Friday, featuring darker colors and shades of burgundy and red. (H/T to Florida News Center for the photo). Anchors led shows from a virtual set while the new environment was being built, sitting in front a green screen while a computer-generated backdrop similar to the old set was recreated for viewers.
WFTS also plans a new segment starting noon Thursday as a partnership between the ABC Action News station and Tampa Bay Parenting magazine. Called Parents In Action, the segment will feature the stations anchors and Angela Ardolina, editor-in-chief of Tampa Bay Parenting, talking about issues and trends. WFTS anchors and reporters will also contribute to the magazine.
