Bright House makes HBO and Cinemax available online through HBO GO and MAX GO services

hbo_go_ipad.jpgBright House Networks cable TV subscribers next month will have a new way to access over 1,400 titles on HBO and more than 400 others on Cinemax, following the company's move to pick up the HBO Go and Max Go services.

The two platforms allow HBO and Cinemax subscribers to watch titles online or on smartphones, accessing shows such as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Sex and the City or the Sopranos wherever they'd like to view them. Bright House subscribers also have to be registered with the company's My Services system, which is free, allowing them to access the new platforms.

The service is expected to roll out to customers in mid-January, with some beta testing early in the month.

Of course, HBO and Cinemax won't make such service available to people who don't already subscribe to cable TV, because the last thing they want, is to be seen as circumventing the cable systems' core businesses.

According to the trade magazine Multichannel News, Bright House is one of the last big cable companies to roll out the service, made available when programming partner Time Warner Cable picked up the platforms. The service helps advance the TV Anywhere concept, giving customers access to television programming across a range of mobile platforms.

Last month, Bright House announced an iPad app allowing customers to access Bright House programming via the popular Apple-made tablet computer.

In addition, HBO GO can be personalized through a “Series Pass®” capability which automatically alerts viewers to new episodes of favorite HBO programs when they arrive on the service.
