Chief meteorologist Tammie Souza to leave St. Petersburg's WTSP-Ch. 10 on Jan. 21
Tammie Souza, chief meteorologist at WTSP-Ch. 10, will leave St. Petersburg's CBS affiliate Jan. 21, heading to Chicago for a job at Fox station WFLD-TV.
Souza, who became the first female chief meteorologist in Tampa Bay TV history when she joined WTSP in October 2008, confirmed back in December that she would be leaving Florida, citing her husband's problems in finding a teaching job locally. Now that her end date in Florida is set, sources in Chicago say she could start at WFLD in February.
WFLD hasn't yet confirmed Souza's hiring or how it will fit her into its current lineup of forecasters. WTSP officials say they have not yet found a replacement for Souza, who will be off work for several days leading up to her departure, burning off vacation days.
