Dancing with the Stars' Maksim Chmerkovskiy berates judges for judging dancers
Every season, Dancing with the Stars pro hoofer Maksim Chmerkovskiy gets a little more full on himself and a little less tolerant of criticism from the show's judges.
The whole issue emerged again Monday, when judge Len Goodman did what he always does -- delivering harsher comments to young contestants who can actually dance than also-rans struggling to compete -- telling Maks' partner Hope Solo she'd offered her worst dance yet.
Maks responded by suggesting Goodman consider leaving the business, annoyed that the show's judges were being too, um, "judgmental."
The conflict works great for the show, which depends on attention-getting controversies to spill out of the broadcast into Internet posts and gossip columns. But it may not work out so well for Maks and Hope, who may see even harsher comments from judges in the future.
Funny enough, Maks didn't seem too worried about the judges' legendary inconsistencies when he was benefiting from them -- as fans saw last cycle, when his partner Kirstie Alley survived far longer than she should have. Judges fawned and apologized for Alley's many mistakes, mostly because she was obviously a surrogate for the show's middle-aged viewership and they wanted her in the game long as possible.
Oh well, at least it's a good excuse to post some funny DWTS video. Enjoy!
