Deggans on CNN Sunday Talking -- What Else? -- Don Imus
Last week, the channel asked me to fly down to Miami to participate in Rick Sanchez's roundtable discussion about the death of football star Sean Taylor.
But because it was one day after the CNN/YouTube debate -- and my kids had soccer practice that night -- I had to decline. Then there was talk of going on CNN's media show Reliable Sources to discuss the debate itself, but that fell through. (wonder if this story had anything to do with that?)
Now I'm on deck to join Reliable Sources Sunday for talk about the I-man's return. Kurtz, who has the distinction of being a former Don Imus guest and the object of some of his more racist insults, told me back in April that he didn't think the man was a bigot. So I'm certain this will be an interesting discussion.
Showtime's around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. I'm pretty much going to say that Imus addressed all the criticism about his past years of racist comments without actually admitting them -- which makes you wonder how long this new and improved version will last.
As even Dr. Phil will tell you: you can't change what you don't acknowledge (did I just quote Dr. Phil?).
