EX-WTVT-Ch. 13 forecaster and St. Pete native Sheena Parveen joins NBC's WCAU-TV in Philadelphia
When St. Petersburg native Sheena Parveen confirmed she was leaving Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT-Ch. 13 for a job in Philadelphia, she declined to confirm the exact station or job.
But NBC affiliate WCAU-TV issued a statement today announcing that Parveen would provide weather reporting for the station's 11 a.m. newscast, along with contributing to the 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. broadcasts.
The move vaults the forecaster, at age 25, from a weekend job in the 14th-largest TV market to a weekday job in the fifth-largest market in the country. She starts at the end of the month.
Parveen, who has lived in Florida her entire life, came to WTVT in November 2009 after working as a forecaster at WCTV Tallahassee. Known as Sheena Parveen Samanipour while growing up locally, she earned a Bachelor's degree in meteorology from Florida State University.
The station's release is below:
