Extra correspondent Jerry Penacoli to co-host WFLA-Ch. 8's Daytime from Tampa
Affable Extra correspondent Jerry Penacoli will join the anchor bench at WFLA-Ch. 8's midday talk show Daytime, co-hosting the show from its Tampa studios.
Penacoli, a former host and news anchor in Jacksonville, Miami and Philadelphia, has served as a correspondent on the syndicated entertainment newsmagazine Extra for years.
He has a home and family in the area, making it easier for him to spend more time in the area and co-host Daytime, said Brad Moses, general manager at WFLA, which also airs Extra.
"He's interested in being in the area," said Moses, who noted Penacoli would likely still contribute to Extra outside his duties for Daytime. "If he gets a chance to do an interview with (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) for Extra and we can piggyback on that, we would certainly be interested."
Penacoli joins co-host Cyndi Edwards on Feb. 4; the show airs weekdays at 10 a.m. on WFLA. The show's other co-host, Lindsay MacDonald, is moving out of the area, said Moses, noting that he hopes to boost the show's local content in the future.
