Fanboys rejoice: New trailer for The Dark Knight Rises hits the Internet
Yes, I'm so much of a nerdy fanboy, I went to an IMAX theater on Saturday night -- after my wife and daughters refused to go with me -- for a glorious screening of the coolest Mission Impossible movie yet, Ghost Protocol.
So I also got an extra geek treat: A look at the new trailer for the last Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.
As Peter Schorsch over on Saint Petersblog pointed out recently, the first Nolan/Bale Batman movie, Batman Begins, was a very loose take on Frank Miller's Batman Year One. The second was an even looser take on the Killing Joke graphic novel (mostly the film borrows this idea of Batman in an eternal struggle with a Joker he can never bring himself to kill).
So this most recent one may be just as loosely inspired by Miller's 1986 graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. Though I think, again it's only going to be a really loose adaptation, since Bane (played by Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (Anne Hathway) are not really in Miller's novel (Catwoman's civilian identity, Selina Kyle, is in the book)
