Huffington Post TV includes me in 20 TV critics weighing in on the best fall dramas and comedies
While in Los Angeles for the TV Critics press tour, I sat down in front of a camera held by some very cool people from the Huffington Post's TV crew to talk about what I was digging and dreading in the fall TV season.
Turns out, they were speaking to about 20 of us critics, including TV Guide's Matt Roush, Hitfix.com's. Alan Sepinwall, IMDB TV's Melanie McFarland and Think Progress' Alyssa Rosenberg. And the one thing which struck me -- besides the fact that most everybody else seems so much hipper than me -- is the many different ways we all see the same stuff.
They managed, at least in these first few videos, to distill one of the hidden values of the TV Critics press tour for me, which is chewing over all these new shows with critics who are way smarter or attuned to pop culture than me. One thing I'm still working to appreciate, for instance, is the love for soap opera which has made successes of ABC dramas such as Revenge and Once Upon a Time.
As you can see from the first two videos, my tastes are a little different than some of other crits. But that's the cool thing about dissecting and evaluating great art -- and make no mistake, some TV is great art -- there's always room for another opinion.
Check out the first two videos below; more to come:
