Imus Off MSNBC for Good; DEGGANS Off MSNBC but on CNN and MPR

11

April

Here's the press release from NBC News:

STATEMENT FROM NBC NEWS

Effective immediately, MSNBC will no longer simulcast the "Imus in the Morning" radio program. This decision comes as a result of an ongoing review process, which initially included the announcement of a suspension. It also takes into account many conversations with our own employees. What matters to us most is that the men and women of NBC Universal have confidence in the values we have set for this company. This is the only decision that makes that possible. Once again, we apologize to the women of the Rutgers basketball team and to our viewers. We deeply regret the pain this incident has caused.

Here's a statement from CBS Radio, which has not yet decided Imus' fate:

STATEMENT FROM CBS RADIO

Don Imus has been suspended without pay for two weeks beginning on Monday, April 16.  During that time, CBS RADIO will continue to speak with all concerned parties and monitor the situation closely.

Think maybe this had something to do with losing Procter and Gamble and GM as sponsors? I'm scheduled to be on Keith Olbermann's Countdown show tonight just after 8 p.m. Tune in, or wait for the YouTube clip...

UPDATE: I thought I would get bumped when the news broke that Imus was kicked off MSNBC, and I called the producer to ask if I should still plan to be on. He assured me I would be on so I drove to Tampa and got ready to go on camera -- then the call came. Bumped from someone more important :(

I am still scheduled to talk with Minnesota Public Radio at 10 a.m. tomorrow and CNN's Reliable Sources, from Washington D.C., at 10 a.m. Sunday. Tune in and see if they actually let me talk!
