Jon Stewart reveals location, official charity for his Rally to Restore Sanity
We still don't know exactly what they will do there, but Daily Show host Jon Stewart revealed a few tantalizing details about his Rally to Restore Sanity Wednesday night, saying the event would occur on a stage between 3rd st. and 7th St. at the National Mall in Washington D.C.
"As far as we know, no iconic event has ever taken place there," said Stewart, mocking the way pundit Glenn Beck's Rally to Restore Honor was scheduled on the same spot as Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream Speech, the Lincoln Memorial.
A liberal and labor union-backed rally called One Nation also gathered at the memorial on Saturday, drawing thousands.
Stewart also announced the official non-profit to benefit from the rally would be the Trust for the National Mall, a charity devoted to restoring and maintaining the space where the rally will be held (according to their website, the trust has already gathered $17,338.32 in donations) .
He didn't mention whether the move was a reaction to some reports that attendees of the One Nation rally left large amounts of trash in their wake.
