Marque Lynche Sr., father of American Idol contestant Michael Lynche, says he did not violate confidentiality rules
For weeks, media outlets have said tough things about Lynche, after a report surfaced on a blog implying that he may have gotten his son Michael Lynche kicked off of American Idol by revealing confidential information.
Marque Lynche Sr. was quoted in a St. Petersburg Times story last month confirming that his son had survived Idol's Hollywood Week of auditions and was among the show's 24 semi finalists weeks before any results were revealed.
But Lynche says that he only knew that possibility from reading two American Idol-centered blogs which featured lists of contestants rumored to be among the final 24.
The elder Lynche says he has not spoken to his son Michael Lynche in years and was both surprised and shocked by the way the story spread across media outlets. Michael Lynche is a St. Petersburg native whose mother, Michele Lynche, was once a community columnist for the St. Petersburg Times.
