NBC midseason schedule holds The Event, makes Law & Order a 10 p.m. staple, creates Thursday comedy night

nightofcomedy.jpgNBC let the other shoe drop in its cancellation of Undercovers last week, announcing a new schedule for January which doubles down on its 10 p.m. success with Law & Order, creates a night of comedy on Thursday, and tees up new shows featuring Kathy Bates and a cape-wearing superhero.

Emmy-winning comedy 30 Rock finally gets a scheduling position to match its creative achievements, moving to 10 p.m. Thursdays to help anchor a night of comedy including SNL alum Amy Poehler's Parks and Recreation.

Eventually, the family drama Parenthood will move out of competition with popular 10 p.m. CBS drama The Good Wife, shifting to Mondays at 10 p.m. Instead, popular freshman Law & Order: Los Angeles moves to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, allowing Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to get out of the earlier 9 p.m. timeslot and air when fans are used to seeing it -- at 10 p.m.

New shows starring Kathy Bates as an irascible lawyer in David E. Kelley's new dramedy (Harry's Law), an ER alum as a cop reborn as a cape-wearing superhero (The Cape), and yet another comedy about three pairs of people (Perfect Couples) hit the screen.
