Peter Gabriel talks music and sings on DirecTV's new Guitar Center Sessions
As a stone Peter Gabriel fan, I'm going to indulge my jones and post a clip here from his interview/performance on Guiitar Center Sessions, a new interview/unplugged performance show debuting at 9 p.m. Saturday on DirecTV.
Like many successful artists, P.G. has gotten more adventurous and stranger as he's matured, leaving some of his U.S. fans behinsd in the process. I haven't yet picked up his new record, a collection of cover tunes featuring orchestra and voice called Scratch My Back. But his excursions into noise and sprawling compositions have always earned my respect, even if they didn't necessarily resonate with me as a fan.
He seems to have beome more of an international artist, as American tastes veered to the Jason Derulos and Katy Perrys of the pop culture universe. Doesn't help that he seems to take a millenium to put albums together, giving too many fans too much time to forget him altogether.
Here's a piano and voice version of Here Comes the Flood; click here to read part of the show's interview with him.
