Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan drops pants during panel at TV Critics press tour
LOS ANGELES -- This is why you never miss a Rescue Me press conference.
Well aware of how tired and jet lagged the journalists are here at the TV Critics Press Tour -- "You guys have been here for, like, what three f--king weeks talking to f--king TV people? I know you’re f--king bored," star Denis Leary bellowed at us at one point -- series cocreator Peter Tolan decided to liven things up today by pulling down his pants and showing off some smart green underwear.
"Look, you want to put tragedy in perspective," Tolan said before yanking open his skivvies. "There’s 9/11 and then there’s the fact that you all have had to watch everything on television...(laughter.) I mean, really, other than the loss of human life, I think it really...It’s, like, (even)."
It's not official, but we're pretty sure that's the first time anybody intentionally showed their underwear to critics on the press tour.
My fave comeback: just before asking a serious question, longtime critic Ed Bark noted, cooly, "That's quite a package there, Peter."
I'll have a piece coming later with their thoughts on the heavy philosophical impact of Rescue Me's take on 9/11. But right now, it's time to laugh at a guy with the biggest cojones in Hollywood.
