Conventional wisdom is that NBC's reboot of the classic monsters satire The Munsters is a burnoff of a busted pilot.

But Mockingbird Lane, a super-expensive test episode NBC is airing a few days before Halloween was an ambitious attempt to reinvent a TV classic.

It seems horribly miscast to me, starting with ADD case Jerry O'Connell as a more svelte, stitched-together Herman Munster and British comic Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster.
