St. Petersburg CNN/YouTube Debate Now Scheduled Nov. 28



Perhaps it was the efforts of groups like Save the Debate, which begged GOP front-runners not to ignore the YouTube generation.Youtube

Or maybe it was the reality of the Iowa straw poll, and the growing success of Democratic candidates such as Barack Obama in turning thousands of cybersurfing fans into donor checks.Romney

Whatever the reason, it seems the Republican version of the CNN/YouTube debates are now back on, though the Washington Post says GOP front-runner Mitt Romney is the lone holdout for the new Nov. 28 date at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg --  featuring candidates answering questions posed in video clips uploaded to the video file sharing Web site.

Gopdebate I'm not quite convinced it's the revolution in electoral politics that CNN and YouTube are claiming it is. But the symbolism of turning down such a venue -- from a field of old white guy candidates who already look like Reagan-era throwbacks -- would be a serious and avoidable mistake.

Besides, who doesn't want to spend a few days in St. Petersburg in November?

Gopdebate2 CNN, YouTube, and the Republican Party of Florida today announced that they will hold their Republican primary debate on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Like the Democratic CNN/YouTube debate, this live two-hour forum will feature video questions submitted to YouTube that will be broadcast and answered by the candidates on CNN.  CNN’s Anderson Cooper will moderate.

This debate will be held at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg. Online users are currently able to submit their questions at
