The Sci-Fi Channel To Feature Award-winning St. Petersburg landmark
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA - September 17, 2008 – The award-winning and historic Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg has been described as luxurious with outstanding amenities. But haunted? Could there be a secret spirit that springs to life in the evening long after guests have gone to sleep? Do friendly ghosts watch over the staff by day and dance in the historic ballroom by night?
Check out the Sci-Fi Channel’s one hour reality show called “Ghost Hunters” on October 1st for some amazing ghostly tales of St. Petersburg’s favorite landmark. Scheduled to air at 9:00 p.m. EST, the hour-long episode of Ghost Hunters will also “star” several employees of the resort who explain on camera some of the mysterious “goings on” since the 1920s. Guests are invited to visit the Vinoy and celebrate the TV debut of the episode called “GHOSTS OF THE SUNSHINE STATE” and enjoy a “Ghostini” every day during the month of October leading up to Halloween in the lobby’s Promenande Lounge.
Just what it is about the fifth floor of the Vinoy anyway? Did a baseball player from the Cincinnati Reds really wake up to see a man in vintage clothes standing over his bed? Did a housekeeper feel someone brush the hair off of her neck? Did an associate actually hear footsteps in the Grand Ballroom while performing her duties in security? Fans of the show tune in weekly as on-air hosts Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson head up the Atlantic Paranormal Society and investigate hauntings throughout the country.
The Vinoy’s Marketing Department received a call from the producers in early July requesting permission to conduct the ghostly investigation. A film crew of five were granted permission to check in to the empty fifth floor from July 14th to the 24th and live and work there to videotape the possibility of ghosts.
