Tampa PR guru Glenn Selig takes on Herman Cain's other woman Ginger White as client

glenn_selig_ms_3.jpgGiven that his client Rod Blagojevich just got sentenced to 14 years in federal prison, Tampa based PR guru Glenn Selig must be looking to expand his client base.

That's an irresistible joke, given the press release I just saw: that Selig is now representing former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain's other woman, Ginger White.

I did a story way back in February 2009 about Selig, a former reporter at WTVT-Ch. 13 who left journalism for PR and wound up representing both Blagojevich and the Chicago area ex-cop accused of killing one of his wives, Drew Peterson. Peterson was also incarcerated later that year.

Here's Selig's press release:

"Just weeks after Herman Cain suspended his run for president, Ginger White, the “other woman” in Cain’s life, has begun a campaign to repair the damage to her reputation.

glennselig-white-cain.jpgThough Cain bowed out of the race for the GOP nomination, he categorically denied having a 13-year affair with White and said that White’s claim was false and suggested she was lying. He challenged White’s motivations for coming forward. White says that she stepped up to admit the relationship with Cain to support other women who had, in previous weeks, revealed sexual harassment run-ins with Cain, but were portrayed as liars.

White says she had nothing to personally gain from coming forward–but a lot to risk–including her privacy and reputation. She says she put herself in the line of fire to help bolster those statements from Cain accusers who had alleged sexual harassment. Although White says her relationship with Cain was consensual, she believed the women.

Just days after sharing her story with WAGA-TV5, the local Fox station in Atlanta, Cain suspended his campaign. He vehemently denied the affair with White. On his website, Herman Cain describes White as a “loser trying to cash in.” White’s reputation continues to take a beating from Cain and from his supporters. For the record: She has not made any money from sharing her story and money has never been the motivation.

In her effort to rehabilitate her tattered image, White hired The Publicity Agency, a national PR firm that specializes in representing high profile clients in the news. “We are pleased to be representing Ginger White,” says Glenn Selig, founder of the PR firm The Publicity Agency. “She is a prime example of the old adage of ‘no good deed goes unpunished.’ For us, this is not about making money either. It’s about helping her repair her reputation which was stolen from her. She went public with something very private to do to the right thing. There was nothing for her to gain from this and she deserves to have her life back.”

White says since coming forward in that interview with WAGA-TV5, she has struggled to find a job. And she has two children and herself to support. She has no regrets but now she just wants to move forward and make sure the record is straight.

The Publicity Agency is a crisis management PR firm that often represents people at the center of big news stories. Clients include Rod Blagojevich, the former governor of Illinois; Sgt. Joe Hickman, a government whistleblower; and Gary Falkner, the “Osama bin Laden Hunter.”
