Tampa Tribune executive editor Richard "Duke" Maas leaving the newspaper Nov. 30
About six months after taking the job, Tampa Tribune executive editor Richard "Duke" Maas has announced he is leaving the newspaper.
Maas will conclude his 12-year tenure at the paper Nov. 30, according to a story published on the newspaper’s website, TBO.com. He was appointed executive editor in May after seven years as managing editor, the story said.
The Tribune and TBO.com were purchased in October from Richmond-Va.-based Media General for $9.3-million by Revolution Capital Group in California; the sale separated both outlets from their longtime corporate sibling, Tampa NBC affiliate WFLA-Ch. 8.
The new owners have told employees to expect pay cuts and staff reductions.
