Tampa Tribune single-copy price rises to 75 cents daily, $1 Sundays across Tampa Bay

Slimtampatribunesunday The Tampa Tribune has announced plans to raise its single-copy price to 75 cents daily and $1 on Sundays starting Monday -- a move that comes eight months after the Trib raised its single-copy daily price to 50 cents.

The change raises the newspaper's daily price by 50 percent and doubles its Sunday price in Pinellas County, where the Tribune once offered a lower Sunday price to spark competition. In Hillsborough County, its current price is 50 cents daily and $1 on Sundays.

The announcement also comes one day after news that the Tribune would stop daily distribution to subscribers in Pinellas County, continuing the newspaper's increasing emphasis on its Web editions.

It's also the end of another local newspaper tradition, as the Tampa Tribune and St. Petersburg Times once offered low prices on Sunday editions in the rival newspaper's home turf.

Currently, the St. Petersburg Times is priced at 50 cents per copy for daily and Sunday editions in Hillsborough County -- making the Times a cheaper single-copy buy in the Tribune's core market (The Times is priced at 50 cents daily and $1 Sundays in Pinellas and other markets).
