Ticketmaster: Charlie Sheen tour comes to Tampa's St. Pete Times Forum April 22
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for an April 22 stop in Tampa by troubled TV star Charlie Sheen, who will bring his Violent Torpedo of Truth tour to the St. Pete Times Forum, according to ticket seller Ticketmaster's website.
Tickets will cost $46.75 and $86.75.
Sheen began booking the tour after his firing from the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, amid a flurry of odd media appearances centered on executives' decision to stop production of his show.
Work on the series had been halted for a month to allow Sheen to enter rehab, but he instead insisted on treatment at his home; the show's production company and CBS canceled plans to resume filming after the actor began insulting the show's executive producer and threating violence against him in media interviews.
As the actor battles the network and production company in court, he's announced plans for the tour, which gossip site TMZ.com said was "essentially Charlie doing comedy in a chair." The site said he would keep 85 percent of the revenue from 21 performances, estimating he might earn as much as $7-million, including ancillary merchadising and appearances.
But Sheen isn't known for unscripted or standup comedy. An official at the St. Pete Times Forum said they were getting much of their information about the show from the star's Twitter feed.
Critics wonder if the appearances won't just be another way for people to gawk at a star who seems to be coming apart in public up close.
