TiVo: ABC's Hopkins; Ti-NO: Celebrity Family Feud
My weekly run down on what to watch and what not in the week to come:
Hopkins, 10 p.m. Thursday, WFTS-Ch. 28: In a sea of summertime Family Feud remakes and Circus of the Stars ripoffs, you’d expect TV critics to laud an ABC documentary about hard-working medical doctors, right? But put the cup of cynicism down my blog buddies -- this six-part series filmed at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Hospital still deserves the props, unearthing an illegal immigrant turned brain surgeon, a female vasectomy-performing urologist and a divorcing emergency room doctor. Come for the reality TV-hyped drama, stay for something we haven't seen often in network TV verite series recently -- quality.
The Two Coreys, 10 p.m. Sunday, A&E: You will not be surprised that professional showbiz casualties Corey Haim and Corey Feldman let their longtime friendship blow apart over childish arguments about women, drugs and separate cases when each were molested as teen stars. Or that theguys who lit up classics such as licensed to Drive and Lost Boys treat their contentious reunion in A&E's reality show with the high drama of the sudsiest soap opera. You will be surprised, however, that someone is actually paying them to film Lost Boys 2.
Celebrity Family Feud, 8 p.m. Tuesday, WFLA-Ch. 8: In a revamp of the old Richard Dawson game show -- which now pits one celebrity's family against another, refereed by the good natured weatherguy from the Today show -- Raven-Symone brings the people who play her parents on TV and Joan Rivers brings her personal assistant. Which may say more about this show -- and Hollywood -- than anything.
