Weekend funny: John Lithgow reads Gingrich press release and Billy Crystal reinvents When Harry Met Sally
I couldn't decide which of these videos were funnier, so I'm posting them both.
In the first, award-winning actor John Lithgow reads a loopy press statement released by Newt Gingrich's press secretary for Stephen Colbert's Colbert Report comedy show. Issued amid a spate of awful public moments kicking off Gingrich's presidential run, it is a wonderfully oblivious argument for why these guys should never get within spitting distance of the Oval Office.
The only way this exercise in controlled bombast could have been funnier is if they'd somehow convinced William Shatner to do it.
In the second, Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner line up an amazing roster of celebrities to help them spoof an attempt to remake their hit When Harry Met Sally, including the perpetually saucy Dame Helen Mirren.
Enjoy these, and your weekend. I know I plan to.
