What do you think of USA Today's first redesign in 30 years?
My thoughts in one word: Ugh.
It's like the designers decided to go back and copy all the newspapers that they made look out-of-date and boring back when the newspaper first debuted. It seems decidely safe for the newspaper's first major redesign in its 30-year history.
But perhaps I'm overreacting. Here's a more generous assessment from a much more experienced and qualified source.
And Mario Garcia, the Tampa-based guru of newspaper design, says "the former McPaper is now a more text-driven newspaper." His site also has images on the newspaper's interior pages, which are much more visually enticing.
