WMOR-Ch. 32 to show NBC's coverage of French Open Men's Final Sunday for WFLA-Ch. 8
You probably won't see anything like Venus Williams' shocking fashion faux pas at the opening matches of the French Open. But local tennis fans probably still want to see the Men's Finals in the French Open Sunday morning.
So take heart: local independent station WMOR-Ch. 32 will air the 2010 French Open Mens Finals for NBC affiliate WFLA-Ch. 8, which is broadcasting its annual All Children's Hospital Telethon this weekend.
WMOR is scheduled to air NBC's coverage of the competition from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday -- ensuring that area tennis fans won't miss the matches and the telethon can also air unimpeded.
Last year, WFLA didn't air the French Open Men's final and had to shift the opening game of the Stanley Cup hockey tournament to Sun Sports network because of the telethon -- a deal which followed a rush effort by owners of Tampa's hockey team, The Lightning, according to my colleague Tom Jones.
So just remember to shift your attention (or DVR settings) to Channel 32 on Sunday, tennis fans.
