WQYK morning show co-host Veronica appears Thursday on game show Let's Ask America

veronica-letsaskamerica.jpgVeronica Young, co-star of the morning show at WQYK-FM, will be shown Thursday competing for $50,000 on E.W. Scripps Co.'s new game show Let's Ask America. She'll face three other radio personalities in a "Battle of DJs," trying to win money for her favorite charity, Meals on Wheels.

The show airs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on WFTS-Ch. 28; it's one of two original shows that Scripps, which owns the Tampa ABC affiliate, has created to air in the "access" time periods before prime time starts.

The program is a marvel of low-budget technology, using webcams to bring in images of contestants from across the country, who try to figure out how people answered oddball poll questions asked by the show.

WQYK is showing its support for Young, hosting a viewing party at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hooters restaurant located at 4215 W. Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa. She's already used to facing off against listeners on her show's own Hollywood-focused trivia challenge; now viewers can see if she's ready to compete on a national stage.
