The Wrap gets our name wrong while listing the St. Petersburg Times among top 25 newspapers on Twitter
Yes, we are a little self-conscious about the whole name thing.
Actually, there's lots of problems with this list: There are actually 27 newspapers on it. And if the information in the comments section is accurate -- a big if, I know -- some newspapers with big Twitter accounts weren't counted, including the Miami Herald (36,504) and Orlando Sentinel (16,792). Compared to those numbers, Tampabay.com's 4,007 followers wouldn't keep us on the list.
It seems likely that The Wrap simply did an update of a post published last year on the Journalistic's blog, re-ranking the country's top 25 newspapers in print circulation by their Twitter followers. This approach winnows out popular Twitter feeds which are not the newspaper's "official" feed and keeps out newspapers with big Twitter feeds and low circulation numbers.
I would be more interested in a list of the top 25 newspapers by followers on Twitter. And if we land on that list, perhaps The Wrap could get our name right that time.
