WTVT-Ch. 13 apologizes for accidentally showing nude Tampa Bay Buccaneers player on air Sunday
Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT-Ch. 13 apologized to viewers Sunday after inadvertently airing images of a nude Tampa Bay Buccaneers player from the team's locker room during a live interview.
The moment came during the station's post-game show, as tackle Donald Penn was commenting on the team's disappointing loss to the Tennessee Titans. Over his right shoulder in the background, a naked player donning shorts inadvertently exposed himself to viewers for a few seconds, seen only from the waist down.
“We issued the following apology during last night’s 6 p.m. newscast: ‘Earlier in the Bucs' post game there was an inadvertent shot and we apologize for that,’” wrote John Hoffman, WTVT Vice President and News Director, in an email to the St. Petersburg Times.
The video has made the rounds on YouTube and was highlighted by the sports media blog Deadspin, which is urging readers to guess who the player in the background might be.
A spokeswoman for Fox said the apology was the station's only comment.
