WTVT-Ch. 13 weekend meteorologist Sheena Parveen leaving Tampa for a job in Philadelphia
Sheena Parveen, a St. Petersburg native who has worked as a weather forecaster at Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT-Ch. 13 on weekend mornings for the past two years, will leave the station Sunday headed for a job in Philadelphia.
Parveen, 25, known as Sheena Parveen Samanipour while growing up locally, declined to confirm which station she will work for in Philadelphia, saying she expects to reveal more details later this week.
A spokeswoman for WTVT confirmed that Parveen's last day on air at WTVT will be Sunday. According to WTVT's online biography, she also reports on environmental topics during the week and hosts a weekly pet adoption segment every Sunday morning with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
In the short term, Andy Johnson will fill in for her on weekend mornings; the station already has posted an online advertisement seeking a new meteorologist.
Parveen, who has lived in Florida her entire life, came to WTVT in November 2009 after working as a forecaster at WCTV Tallahassee. She earned a Bachelor's degree in meteorology from Florida State University.
Regardless of where she lands in Philadelphia, the job is likely to be a promotion. The Tampa Bay area is the nation's 14th-largest TV market, while Philadelphia is the 5th-largest market.
