WUSF TV and radio teams with Bay News 9 for report Friday on local mortgage crisis
Now Tampa public television and radio station WUSF has teamed with local cable newschannel Bay News 9 to present a special report on Tampa's mortgage crisis, creating reports for television and online featuring personalities from all outlets.
Using a sponsorship from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the outlets have created Facing the Mortgage Crisis: a Florida Matters Special, a report telling the stories of homeowners affected by the foreclosures, with information on free community resources and warnings about possible scams.
Public broadcasters in Chicago, Houston and Detroit have also developed Facing the Mortgage Crisis projects for their communities.
Irene Maher, the former WFLA-Ch. 8 anchor who now hosts WUSF-Ch. 16's Florida Matters reports (and helps cover health issues for the St. Petersburg Times) will co-host the Tampa Bay area TV special with Bay News 9's Al Ruechel.
The televised version airs on WUSF and Bay News 9 at 8 p.m. Friday; WUSF-FM 89.7 host Carson Cooper hosts a radio show with different guests at 6 p.m. Friday. The program also airs on Bay News 9 en Espanol.
