Disney turned Epcot's icon into 'Star Wars' Death Star (w/ video)

Epcot’s iconic Spaceship Earth was turned into the Death Star for a one-night stunt Monday night for the release of new Star Wars film Rogue One coming to theaters Dec. 16.
Meanwhile, the Disney theme parks are getting on the Rogue One bandwagon, adding scenes and props from the movie to Disney Hollywood Studios shows and shops.

Rogue One props have already been added to the Star Wars Launch Bay attraction at the park, Disney announced. And on Dec. 16 the park will also launch a day-time performance called Star Wars — A Galaxy Far, Far Away that will feature characters from all eight of the films, including Rogue One.

Also on Dec. 16, the park is bringing back the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular show using fireworks, lasers, music and film scenes.  It will join the current Jingle Bell-Jingle BAM! show, giving visitors two different nighttime shows through the end of the year.

The park’s Star Tours ride will add new sequences from Episode 8 sometime later in 2017, but starting on Dec. 16 the ride will bring back the random aspect of the ride, a popular feature that makes the ride a different experience on repeat rides.
