For $10, Tampa Theatre will marry you in a mass, movie-themed ceremony before 'Sleepless in Seattle'
If you love movies, and you love your partner, then maybe you'll love this idea for Valentine's Day.
Tampa Theatre's Feb. 14 screening of the classic rom-com Sleepless In Seattle will feature a mass wedding ceremony officiated by Tampa Theatre President and CEO John Bell. Except they'll be calling him the Right Reverend John Bell that day, and he'll apparently be ordained with one of those very-official-but-easily-obtained certificates from the internet.
The theater announced the wedding ceremony as a way for married couples to take the stage and renew their vows before the movie, in a 7 p.m. ceremony written specifically for "an audience well-versed in romantic movie quotes," followed by a champagne toast.
But couples who are not already married, and ready to change that, can participate in the ceremony too. Bring your legal marriage license along and the theater will have a notary in attendance to make it official.
After the ceremony, the theatre will screen the 1994 Nora Ephron film starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
The movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, or $8 for Tampa Theatre members. Those interested in registering for the vows should contact Jill Witecki at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (813) 274-8287.
