Forbes: These are the highest-paid dead celebrities of 2016 (w/video)
Forbes magazine released its annual list of the year's highest paid deceased celebrities this week, and the King of Pop reigned supreme over all the rest. Michael Jackson's estate reportedly took in $825 million in 2016. That windfall was said to come mostly from the sale of Jackson's half of the Sony/ATV Music Publishing catalog, which included publishing rights to 250 Beatles songs.
For comparison, the magazine reports that No. 2 on the list, the estate of Charles Schulz, brought in $48 million this year, 16 years after the Peanuts creator's death. (Schulz may have gotten a boost from the release of The Peanuts Movie on DVD this year).
Also appearing on the list were Prince (No. 5), David Bowie (No. 11), Dr. Suess (No. 7), Elizabeth Taylor (No. 13) and Bettie Page (No. 10).
