Gamers recreate Raymond James Stadium, Busch Gardens Tampa in Minecraft
If you're not familiar with the immersive and wildly popular game Minecraft, just know that (among other things) it allows players to build and edit massive virtual worlds within the game. One of those worlds, which hit the internet today via YouTube, should look very familiar to Tampa Bay residents.
YouTuber Jaxon MacGeorge has recreated Raymond James Stadium in painstaking detail, from the stadium's exterior to the inner concourse to the bleachers and field. His YouTube channel is full of other stadium recreations, including Oregon's Autzen Stadium and Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University. MacGeorge told me that the RayJay map took him about 80 hours over the course of a couple months.
According to MacGeorge's caption, it's a "to scale" build of the stadium, where one virtual "block" equals one yard.
It's not the first Tampa landmark to get the minecraft treatment. MCParks, a Minecraft group that spends years recreating theme parks, like it's massive Disney World map, recreated Busch Gardens Tampa, including Falcon's Fury, Montu and the park's other rides, last year.
