Gary Busey, Paul Sorvino putting on Sunscreen (Film Festival)
Character actor Paul Sorvino and Gary Busey who's an actor and a character, are confirmed as celebrity guests of the 11th annual Sunscreen Film Festival.
Busey, 71, is expected at the festival's red carpet opening night ceremonies Apr. 28 at the Palladium in St. Petersburg.
Busey was an early Oscar nominee in his career for playing Buddy Holly then a candidate for culthood with a string of reality show stints and inspirational "Buseyism" acronyms such as "TRUTH = Taking Real Understanding To Heart" . He'll also accompany his thriller Candiland, a 3:15 p.m. screening at Muvico Sundial 19 on Apr. 30.
Sorvino is one of Hollywood's most respected supporting players, in memorable performances stretching from 1974's The Gambler (the good one with James Caan, not Mark Wahlberg) through Goodfellas and Romeo + Juliet.
The father of Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino will attend a 6 p.m. screening on Apr. 30 at Sundial 19 of his road trip comedy Detours. That film's director Mara Lesemann and actor/producer Tara Westwood will also attend.
Busey and Sorvino are both expected to attend the festival's closing night awards ceremony on May 1. Tickets for each Sunscreen event are $8, available here.
A counter-reality icon who claims to smell colors, and "Lips Manlis" from Dick Tracy in St. Pete together? This could be fun.
