Idina Menzel will perform a 'Frozen' song at the Oscars (VIDEO)
Well, looks like the Oscars are trying hard to overcome that nasty taste Seth MacFarlane left in everyone's mouth last year. They're doubling down on this year's live talent, with the announcement that Tony-winning singer/actor/musical theater goddess Idina Menzel will perform at the ceremony on March 2. And this, just a week after we learned Pharrell will be at the Academy Awards, too!
Menzel will perform the Oscar-nominated song Let it Go from the animated Disney movie Frozen, currently playing as a singalong version at a theater near you. Menzel, known for her roles in Rent and Wicked on Broadway, voices one of the movie's main characters, Elsa.
Oscar night will be the first time such a large audience is able to see the movie's songs performed live, but the Frozen cast actually got together on Sunday to do just that for a small audience. As part of Disney’s Frozen live cabaret in California, cast members like Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Menzel gathered to sing through the movie's soundtrack. Check out a video of that below, and hope that someone in Hollywood realizes this movie needs to be turned into a Broadway musical, stat.
