Jamming to this? White House drops President Obama's Summer Spotify Playlist for 2016
If you've grown tired of listening to President Barack Obama rap Desiigner's "Panda" on repeat, aka the song of the summer (and I am talking about the Obama version), the White House has some new jams for your barbecues and your beaching and whatever else you people who like the outdoors do during the summer.
The Obama administration this afternoon released the President's Summer Playlist, the sequel to the Spotify playlist that went viral in 2015 when the White House released a list of songs hand-picked by the president as some of his favorites.
Been waiting to drop this: summer playlist, the encore. What's everybody listening to? pic.twitter.com/mqh1YVrycj— President Obama (@POTUS) August 11, 2016
The list, once again, is separated into President Obama's songs for daytime and songs for nighttime. Also true to last year's form, both lists include modern and old-school stuff and is a mix of "conscious" hip hop (Wale, Nas and Common), soul (Aloe Blacc, Janelle Monae and Leon Bridges), jazz (Charlis Mingus and Miles Davis), and indie and classic rock (Courtney Barnett, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Beach Boys).
Here's how some of the musicians reacted to being included.
