MegaCon Tampa Bay updates: 'Star Trek's' Brent Spiner, 'The Princess Bride's' Wallace Shawn in; Alex Kingston, Karl Urban out
About two weeks until it makes its debut in Tampa, MegaCon is shaking up its celebrity lineup.
The annual nerd convention announced Thursday that Alex Kingston (River Song from the Doctor Who franchise) and Karl Urban (Bones in the newest Star Trek movies) both had to cancel their appearances. William Shatner previously canceled.
However, MegaCon added Brent Spiner (Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini in The Princess Bride), Verne Troyer (Mini Me in the Austin Powers films) and Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner on The X-Files).
Special Doctor Who ticket packages also went on sale Thursday morning. The Ultimate Fan Experience with David Tennant and Billie Piper is the top tier experience for those whose love for the Doctor and his companions goes far beyond the reaches of time and space.
For those who don't have the $499 for the ultimate ticket, there are other ticket options to experience the reunion of the tenth Doctor and his companion, Rose Tyler.
MegaCon is expected to bring thousands to the Tampa Convenction center Oct. 28-30. Besides celebrity guests, there will be geek panels, vendors, games and plenty of cosplay.
Tickets for MegaCon start at $25 for single day passes and start at $60 for three-day passes.
