More TV news from upfronts week: ABC revamps its schedule

'Scandal' moves to 9 p.m. Thursdays.

'Scandal' moves to 9 p.m. Thursdays.

Fourth-place network ABC just revealed its prime-time schedule for the new fall season, and it looks pretty different from the one that just ended. Some nights, like Mondays (with stalwarts Dancing with the Stars and Castle staying put), look the same, but some look completely different. On Tuesday, the returning Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be surrounded by three new shows: the comedy Selfie, a fun-sounding show that should change its silly name immediately; romantic comedy Manhattan Love Story; and Forever, a drama about a New York City medical examiner who's immortal.

Second-year family comedy The Goldbergs finally shifts to Wednesdays, the same night as Modern Family, a no-brainer idea that ABC should have persued last year (and maybe it could have saved Trophy Wife!). The new comedy Black-ish, from producer Larry Wilmore, gets the coveted post-Modern Family slot that night. Black-ish, about an African-American guy (Anthony Anderson) whose dad (Laurence Fishburne) sets out to help him establish a sense of cultural identity, is part of ABC's more diverse slate for 2014-15, one that also includes the Asian-American comedy Fresh off the Boat and Cristela, starring Latina stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo.

Thursdays become Shonda Nights, with the entire 8-11 p.m. lineup made up of shows produced by Shonda Rhimes: the 11th (!) season of Grey's Anatomy, which moves to 8 p.m.; returning hit Scandal, which moves to 9; and new show How to Get Away with Murder, a thriller starring the incomparable Viola Davis as a brilliant law professor. (Watch the trailer below.)

Other shows, like Marvel's Agent Carter, inspired by the Captain America movies; Secrets and Lies, a drama starring Ryan Phillippe as a murder suspect; and Fresh off the Boat are on track to debut later in the season. See ABC's full schedule below:
