There aren't too many perks to being my kid but one of them is they get to come along sometimes to help me with a story. The Discovery Channel hit show MythBusters is one of my 11 year old's absolute favorites, so when MOSI invited me to come on a media tour to meet one of the show's stars, Kari Byron, and preview the new visiting "Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition" I decided to bring along a fanboy for his expert help. You can read my review of the tour here.

When I showed up for the news conference with about a dozen other reporters, bloggers and a USF student journalist I had the only 11 year old in tow but it turned out to be a good call because he dove right into the interactive exhbits showing what a kid is most jazzed about. And who was playing with him? Kari of course. I tweeted a picture of them playing there and she tweeted back "Love showing kids the exhibit!"

A mom of a 4 year old, and a former science-obsessed kid herself, she was incredibly sweet to him, pointing out the real rhino poop in a jar from a famous episode that challenged the phrase "you can't polish a..." The funny thing is the Discovery Channel wouldn't let them say the T word on air (and neither would Mother Times let me in my story) And by the way, they showed you can polish one. BUSTED

This is the opening weekend for the exhibition, which runs through May 8 at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave., Tampa.  Admission: $24.95, $21.95 seniors, $19.95 ages 2-12 (general); $11.95, $9.95 ages 2-12 (members) and includes admission to MOSI's permanent exhibits or a documentary IMAX film. See mosi.org.
