Oddsmakers give Kanye West and Tom Brady surprisingly good odds in 2020 presidential race
It seems that the election of Donald Trump — once thought to be an outlandish proposal — is affecting the betting odds in the 2020 presidential election, as betting markets are giving celebrities with no experience holding office pretty good odds to become the next commander in chief.
Online sportsbook Bovada has a list of candidates that includes rapper Kanye West (100-1), quarterback Tom Brady (100-1), actor (who has played a president) Kevin Spacey (150-1) and People's "Sexiest Man Alive" Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (100-1).
Some of those celebrities are being given better odds than people who actually ran for president in 2016, such as Gary Johnson (500-1) and Jill Stein (300-1). The bigger longshots on the board include Kim Kardashian (500-1) and Vince McMahon (500-1).
Trump is currently Bovada's favorite to win in 2020 with 2.5-1 odds. He's followed by Mike Pence (10-1), Paul Ryan (10-1), Michelle Obama (12-1), Elizabeth Warren (14-1) and Cory Booker (20-1). Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are both 20-1.
Of course, there's still four years for these things to fluctuate, but laying down $100 right now on the possibility of a future president Leonardo DiCaprio will pay out $10,000 if he wins. Feeling lucky?
